Who Needs an SR22 Filing and What Is It?

Common reasons an SR22 Filing is required:
Driving with a suspended license or without insurance
Having a major violation, such as reckless driving
Having an at-fault accident without insurance
Causing bodily injury in an at-fault accident and you did not have Bodily Injury Coverage on your auto insurance policy at the time of the accident
Having multiple violations in a short period of time
An SR22 Filing is a Certificate of Financial Responsibility and not insurance itself. It's filed with the state by your insurance carrier certifying that you carry the required Bodily Injury and Property Damage limits mandated by the state or court.
The insurance minimum requirements for an SR22 Filing is:
$10,000 Bodily Injury- the maximum paid per person for injuries that you cause to others in an at-fault accident
$20,000 Bodily Injury- the maximum paid for all persons that you injure in an at-fault accident.
$10,000 Property Damage- the maximum paid out to others for property damaged by you.
